Caregiver Insights

1. SIMPLIFY THE ENVIRONMENT the Alzheimer’s person’s environment should be as simple as you can make it. “More” is confusing for them and can cause anxiety and confusion.

2. TRY TO KEEP TO A SIMPLE DAILY ROUTINE breakfast, lunch and dinner at the same times each day, a walk in the morning and or in the afternoon, a drive in the car out into the country or through pretty residential streets. Barbara liked to take a drive each day and see the trees and flowers and clouds. It is also good for the caregiver to be able to get out and not be in the house all day with their loved one. Barbara also enjoyed taking a walk on the beach and picking up shells.

3. SECURE DOORS with locks an Alzheimer’s person can’t reach or unlock.

4. BODYMINT a chlorophyll tablet, which makes the breath sweet and the whole body sweeter, bought in drugstores. I gave a tablet to Barbara three times a day and it made her bad breath and body orders very pleasant. I highly recommend it.

5. WANDERING take the Alzheimer’s person on walks every day and they are less likely to wander. Barbara’s caregivers took Barbara on a one to three mile walk each day and it kept her from wandering.
